Description
Come along to Stitching Kitchen and get to grips with your sewing machine in this fun and practical two-and-a-half-hour workshop designed for complete beginners. Whether your machine is still in the box or you've tried a few stitches without success, this session will help you feel confident and capable. Guided by an experienced tutor, you'll learn how to thread your machine, explore essential stitching techniques, and even create your own fabric coaster to take home. With everything provided – including tea and cake – it’s the perfect introduction to the world of sewing.
What you will learn/achieve
How to set up and thread a domestic sewing machine.
Key sewing techniques including seams and basic stitches.
Troubleshooting tips and how to avoid common sewing machine issues.
A completed project: your own handmade coaster to take home.
Skills to progress to quilting or garment sewing courses.
What's included
Tuition: full instruction and support in a small class (maximum of 6).
Use of our Pfaff and Janome machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.
All materials and patterns are provided.
Tea and cake.
What to bring
Just bring yourself! and all materials will be provided.
Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.
Yes, if you have a sewing machine you are welcome to bring it so you can practice on your own machine. If you don't have one or yours is too heavy to bring we have a range of Janome and Pfaff Sewing Machines which you can us in the studio
Feel free to bring fabrics and any sewing machines/supplies you have, but you don't have to. We have everything available here.
This class is suitable for complete beginners, it's a very forgiving project.
